My drive to create positive change in society ignited when I launched a campaign to provide free menstrual products for all menstruators at my previous school. Additionally, I pushed this campaign further to donate free, reusable menstruation products to immigrants in Belgium. This initiative opened my eyes to the broader global issues that I had been shielded from due to my privileged upbringing. I am forever grateful to my former teacher who encouraged me to read beyond the headlines and cultivate curiosity about the world's challenges. This enlightenment fuelled my desire to contribute to a more equitable society.
Last year, as I returned to China to reconnect with my culture, I was struck by the myriad opportunities to promote equity. China's rapid technological advancement inspired me to explore innovative solutions. Driven by my passion for addressing gender inequality and the social injustices faced by women worldwide, I decided to continue my fight against period poverty.
